Bag Smart - Help Rid Australia of PLastic Bags

Esperance Snap Shot

schools esp2The Plastic Bag Art Competition has become an annual event in Esperance.  Held for the first time in 2003, there were

many more entries were received in 2004.  Ideas ranged from shopping baskets to flowers, bumble bees and even a horse!  The competition is a unique way of raising awareness of the use of plastic bags with school students.

Bags, Bags and more Bags!

That’s what you’ll need to enter the Plastic Bag Art Competition.
Designs can be a new age piece of artwork, a hat or a completely new invention – all made from plastic bags.

The competition was open to all school students.  Three main prizes were awarded with other prize packs available.  The prizes were not for set age groups because the majority of entries tend to be from the similar age group (9-11 year olds) and this allowed for more flexibility.

Terms and Conditions of Entry

  1. Entries must be predominantly made from plastic bags.
  2. Entries are restricted to primary and high school students.
  3. Winning entries agree to display their design as part of the Bag Smart campaign.  This may include shopping centres, schools, Wylie Bay and Shire of Esperance web site.
  4. Entries need to be submitted at the Shire Office by 4.30pm, Thursday, May 13th.
  5. Entries will be independently judged.
