Dewsons Margaret River has been a leader in their community when it comes to working on the issue of plastic bags. For the past two years there has been a store focus on helping customers go through the change when it comes to carrying shopping.  Alternative bags and Boxes are in a prominent position in the store. Staff are trained to assist the customers with alternative bags at the checkout, making it a nice shopping experience and encouraging customers to remember their bags when they shop. In April 2004 the store conducted a shoppers survey with 500 people responding and 93% of people were in favour of banning plastic bags in Margaret River.
